Mr. Shape has practiced intellectual property law since 1982. He represents clients in intellectual property litigation and in United States and international prosecution matters. His litigation experience involves patents, trademarks, copyrights, unfair competition and trade secrets.
His technical expertise includes audio and video compression, computer hardware and software, database systems, electronic commerce, electronic discharge machining, multimedia and digital communications, online auction technology, semiconductor devices, telecommunications, and the general mechanical arts.
Mr. Shape has managed corporate transactions involving the transfer of intellectual property and licensing rights, infringement and validity opinions, construction and management of intellectual property licensing programs, and counseling are also parts of Mr. Shape's practice.
He is licensed in Illinois, many federal courts, the United States Supreme Court, and United States Patent & Trademark Office.
